Wave. 2015
Wave. 2015
Oil on sculpted canvas
48" x 60" x 5"
Seemless, undulating [3D] sculpted forms that emulate continual collapsing waves interact with a meticulously painted wave movement - a dramatic narrative of simulated, visual illusion & depth. Crisp, fine outlines - coming/going contours varying in thickness along each form to accent the movement. The graphic interpretation of the wave's color palette, ornamented stylization of color swatch edges, color overlaps and tone interplay with the sculpture beneath further animate this layered movement. Areas of the sculpture are rendered with transitioning color for a dramatic effect with the illusion of shadows/flotation, a signature of the series.

Color Splash Series: Primary I & II 2012-2013
Color Splash Series: Primary I & II 2012-2013
Oil on sculpted canvas
106" x 48" x 5"
Dramatic interaction of color, form and light. Painted forms and shadows interact with a sculpted layer below for dynamic layering and illusion. Color over- and underlays created secondary hues, also with their own depth and shadows. This work intends to capture the beautiful boldness of the primary colors against the stark white to further enhance the depth and illusion of ‘separation’ of the animated bands of color and the canvas surface. Anderson’s COLOR SPLASH SERIES has a loose and abstract energy as ‘live splashes’ of color are seen as spontaneous as they are live - an animated color narrative witnessed before the viewer’s eyes.

Earth. 2013
Oil on sculpted canvas
60" x 48" x 6"
Essentially an abstract piece, the illusion of leaves floating above rocky soil and the use of earth tones evoke memories of a warm autumn afternoon.

Oceanic Splashes. 2012
Oil on sculpted canvas
60" x 48" x 6"
On corporate loan, 666 5th Avenue, New York City
Dramatic interaction of color, form and light. Painted forms and shadows interact with a sculpted layer below for dynamic layering and illusion. Color over- and underlays created secondary hues, also with their own depth and shadows. Water colors, varied tones caused from sunlight and movements of the ocean and its interactive energies are captured in a live narrative: - “crashing water diamonds” illustrated on diagonals in the composition. A highly complex layer of sculpture underneath interacts with the detailed painted forms, depicting the complex and profound compilation of wreckless energy and beauty that the ocean represents.
