Eagle. 2013
Eagle. 2013
Oil on canvas
60" x 48"
A bald eagle's powerful, expansive form interacts with natural forces in the sky, displacing clouds amidst its flailing wings. Symbolic messages of resilience, perseverance, strength, resolve - even the evolution of time and re-growth - are expressed. The bald eagle, in it's iconic essence, represents a rebounding America...the beautiful.

Flowers XYZ. 2013
Flowers XYZ, 2013
Oil on canvas
60" x 48"
Anderson decodes the complex shapes of the roses only to reconstruct them in his own unique way, creating a painting that is beautiful, intricate and full of life.
-
Flowers XYZ II. 2013
Flowers XYZ II. 2013
Oil on canvas
60" x 48"
The second of a two part series, 'Flowers XYZ II' conveys intense movements, materialistic breakdowns and expansions of floral forms. The artist's 'supreme abstraction' of the flower petals are in earlier, less expansive forms than the first 'Flowers XYZ' work.
Additionally, this work also has a surrealistic element: a flower forming (or dissipating, depending how you see it) in "thin air" - natural forces of metaphysical creation.

Crashing Wave. 2012
Crashing Wave. 2012
Oil on canvas
72" x 36"
Bright frothy crests hurl themselves forward and interact with the dark blues of the deep water, conveying the complex dynamic between a crashing wave and the powerful ocean from which it emerges. The illusion of the setting sun and the sky merging with the water below is reminiscent of the timeless beauty of Japanese woodblock prints.

Roses. 2012
Roses. 2012
Oil on canvas
40" x 30"
Anderson de-constructs and reassembles the angular, almost cubist rose petals and leaves, creating a sense of movement in an otherwise still object. It is up to the viewer to decide in which direction (in or out) the energy flows.

Crash. 2010
Crash. 2010
Oil on canvas
40" x 30"
Private Collection, USA
Anticipating the crash, this work depicts the moment the dark waters start to raise themselves to form a wave. The bright, distant, finely painted skies emphasize the immense power of the ocean.
